The Albany Devils took 3 out of 6 points this weekend in the middle 3 games of a 5-game road trip.
They started out taking on the Portland Pirates on Friday night.

After Portland took a 1-0 lead 26 seconds into the game, Scott Timmins recorded his 11th goal of the season at 10:40 of the first period.
Reid Boucher would net his 15th and Tim Sestito netted his 12th of the season to give Albany a 3-1 lead. Portland would get one back to cut the lead to 3-2 on Brendan Shinnimin’s 12th goal of the year.
The Pirates would tie the game up in the 3rd period on Tobias Rieder’s 22nd goal of the year with about 5 minutes left in the game.
Each team would record a shot in the overtime period but the game would move to a shootout. After Mattias Tedenby missed his shot, Reid Boucher netted the equalizing shootout goal. Portland would miss their next shot followed by a miss from Mike Sislo.
Brandon Yip scored to give Portland the 2-1 lead. Joe Whitney kept it going to tie it up 2-2 and Lucas Lessio missed Portland’s next shot. Stefan Matteau would net his shot and Portland’s Daine Todd missed his shot as the Devils held off the Pirate surge.

Albany would record 36 shots but went 0-for-3 on the PP. Adam Larsson and Mattias Tedenby recorded the lone assists for the Devils. Stefan Matteau and Reid Boucher earned the first and third star respectively.
On Saturday night, the Devils traveled to Hartford, CT to take on the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Brandon Burlon would score his 4th goal of the season to open the scoring 9 minutes into the game. Hartford would rattle off 3 goals in a row to give them a 3-1 lead. That score never changed until Mike Sislo scored his 19th goal of the season with some help from Harri Pesonen and Tim Sestito.
About 30 seconds later, Joe Whitney tied the game after Kelly Zajac earned his second assist of the game.
With under 8 minutes remaining, Ryan Bourque scored his 17th goal of the game and that goal would stand as the game-winning goal.
Kelly Zajac earned the third star of the game as the Devils out-shot the other team 36-21 for the second straight game. The PP pulled through on Burlon’s goal as they went 1-for-3.
For the final game of the weekend, the Devils traveled to Worcester, MA to take on the Worcester Sharks.
After Worcester jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Reid Boucher netted his 16th goal of the season. Mattias Tedenby recorded the assist.
The Sharks jumped out to a 3-1 lead about 3 minutes into the third period. Then the Devils staged a comeback.
David Wohlberg scored his 4th goal to cut the lead to 3-2. With about 5 minutes left in the game, the Devils tied the game on a goal by Harri Pesonen that was his 9th of the season.
The game would go through the entirety of OT and the Devils would be in their second SO game of the weekend.

Mattias Tedenby missed the first shot while Daniil Tarasov gave the Sharks the 1-0 lead. In Round 2, both Reid Boucher and John McCarthy missed their opportunities. In the third round, Mike Sislo knotted the shootout up at 1-1 while Dan DaSilva missed for the Sharks.
Both Joe Whitney and Brodie Reid missed their 4th-round opportunities. In the 5th round, Stefan Matteau missed and Freddie Hamilton won the game for the Sharks as the Devils came up just short in their comeback effort.
Harri Pesonen earned second star of the game.
The Devils are back in action on Friday as they will take part in another weekend tripleheader with the back 2 games taking place at home.
The Devils are currently in 2nd in the Northeast Division with 70 points. They are 12 points ahead of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and trail the Springfield Falcons by 8 points.
In the Eastern Conference, the Devils are in 8th place and are barely in a playoff spot as it stands. They are 3 points ahead of the Hershey Bears and 1 point behind the Binghamton Senators.
