New Jersey Devils Fan Spotlight: Jamie From Monroe
Here at Pucks and Pitchforks we are introducing a new weekly segment called Fan Spotlight. In this segment, we will take a look at a different New Jersey Devils fan each week and ask them some questions about their fandom. This is a great way to get to know some of the best fans in sports and highlight the people that give us purpose. We are, after all, first and foremost a fantastic blog so what better way than to spotlight the fans!
The inaugural fan featured in this segment is Jamie Himmelreich, a 25-year-old second-year season ticket holder from Monroe, New Jersey. Jamie is one of the most passionate Devils fans there is and also a huge Taylor Swift fan. You can follow her on Twitter @Jamie210. Here is what Jamie had to say about her life as a Devils fan:
1) What made you become a Devils’ fan?
I grew up in a family of Devils fans and I remember watching the 2003 Stanley Cup games with my dad. It was exciting to see a team from New Jersey succeeding.

2) What are your thoughts on the season so far?
The season has been disappointing so far. The team hasn’t been playing up to their potential and I feel like Peter DeBoer hasn’t been putting the right lines and pairings out on the ice. There are certain players who can play poorly game after game and never see the bench while other players can make one mistake and find themselves on the bench for an entire 3rd period or a be a healthy scratch for a few games. There are a few bright spots on the team though and I’m happy with the way Cory Schneider is playing and the offense from Mike Cammalleri, Adam Henrique, and Jaromir Jagr. I just think some changes need to be made.
3) Who is your favorite current Devil? Favorite former Devil? Why?
I know this will be an unpopular opinion by many people but my favorite player is Travis Zajac. I do agree that he needs to score more, but he does the little things that people overlook. He is one of the players who always plays hard and he will own up to it when he has a bad game. I think when he is paired with the right wingers he is a different player.
My favorite former Devil isn’t much of a surprise and a fan favorite, Marty Brodeur. He’s done so much for the organization and the Devils would be a much different franchise if it wasn’t for what Marty has done. He was a huge part of those Stanley Cups and he is one of the best goalies to play the game, if not the best.

4) What’s your favorite part of attending Devils games? If you haven’t been able to make it out to any games, do you have any plans of doing so in the future? What are you looking forward to?
I love attending Devils games and becoming a season ticket holder has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I always look forward to going to games and it’s always such an exciting atmosphere. Hockey is the best sport to watch live and it’s always a fun time. I’ve met so many incredible people by attending games and a lot of them have become like family to me.
5) What’s the most memorable game you’ve ever been at, or remember watching on television?
The most memorable game I have ever been to was Game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarter Finals where Zajac scored the overtime goal against Florida to keep the season alive. I remember the scramble in front of Brodeur just seconds earlier and how a goal there would have ended it, and as soon as Zajac placed the puck right between Clemmensen’s pads the place went wild. It was the loudest I have ever heard The Rock get.
We want to thank Jamie for sharing her thoughts and experiences with us. If you would like to be featured in an upcoming Fan Spotlight article, make sure to follow us on Twitter @PitchforkedPuck and/or follow us on Facebook at “Pucks and Pitchforks” and let us know!
