NEWARK, NJ - JANUARY 02: Miles Wood

On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, we look at a potential Miles Wood-Nico Hischier pairing, some players who could play well at this week’s rookie camp and an ode to Devils legends by the NHL.

Pucks and Pitchforks looks at Nico Hischier’s possible pairings when he makes the New Jersey Devils this season. There are multiple options for him, but an instant connection could help both Hischier and Miles Wood. Hischier could help Wood, who hit a serious rookie wall last season. Wood also helps Hischier with his fighting ability and his ability to finish the great passes coming from the Swiss rookie.

New Jersey Devils: Miles Wood Benefits Most From Nico Hischier

Chris Ryan with NJ.com takes a look at some of the most anticipated names coming into developmental camp this week. Some of the obvious names make the list, like Hischier and Michael McLeod, but others make you more excited for the depth of the Devils system. One name that I personally am excited to watch is fourth-round pick Nikita Popagaev. Another interesting player is Jesper Bratt, who just signed his entry-level deal with the Devils late last season.

Todd Correll with Hockey Buzz takes a look at the Devils moves, more importantly the likelihood another forward could be coming to the Devils. Correll believes the Devils are done adding up front, and they will focus on upgrading the blue line. The offense has two or three roster spots in question, but those could easily go to the McLeods or Blake Colemans of the world. There are so many young players who need NHL experience that the Devils would do themselves a disservice signing a middling veteran.

The New Jersey Devils are probably done adding up front

Many of you may not know this, but the NHL is revealing color paintings every Monday of this year of the 100 best players in the league’s history. Today was the Devils’ day. The paintings for both Martin Brodeur and Scott Stevens were revealed by NHL.com. The paintings look great, except for Brodeur’s late career mask over the one he won three Stanley Cups with. That’s obviously a personal opinion, but that mask is the one he was the best of all time in. If you would like a new background for your phone, follow the link.

ABC7 in Buffalo reports that the New Jersey Devils will join the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins in a possible rookie tournament in September. This tournament keeps growing, and it seems the Pittsburgh Penguins could join the three teams to give them a fourth. This can only help the Devils. Facing teams with the Devils rookie roster see what they play like against real competition. There is only so much one can do when facing teammates.
