On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, a highly anticipated development camp scrimmage, Pavel Zacha ready to make the next step and what everyone has to say about Nico Hischier three days into camp.

Andrew Gross with Northjersey.com made multiple observations to yesterday’s 3-on-3 scrimmage with the New Jersey Devils. Team Daneyko, led by Pavel Zacha, won the competition in dominant fashion, going undefeated and winning 1-0 in the final. Gross talked about the speed and ability shown by 2016 first-round pick Michael McLeod. He talks about a big play by Nikita Popugaev and why the Devils were forced to play someone in the finance department in net.

Speaking of Zacha, Pucks and Pitchforks looks at the development Zacha has shown already, just three days into camp. After a somewhat disappointing season in his first NHL campaign, Zacha shows he is ready to take the next step. He could find himself centering a top six line early into the season if his impressive skill set comes together like many think it should.

Nico Hischier caught a lot of eyes during the first few days of Devils camp. His teammates were impressed with his speed and skill. While Hischier looked a little gassed at times during yesterday’s scrimmage, he didn’t let that affect his play. Miles Wood and Blake Speers talk about how excited they are to have such a dynamic player sharing the red and black jersey with them.

Cory Schneider spoke with NHL.com’s Mike Morreale on his visit to development camp yesterday. He sounds genuinely excited for the additions the Devils made to the roster. He loves the signing of his college teammate Brian Boyle, who will give the Devils consistency on the bottom six. Schneider also talks about the tough position he’s in, taking some of the blame for goalie coach Chris Terreri losing his job.

CP Ching with Real Sport 101 takes a look at the Devils moves this offseason. He points out some of the obvious, like the concerning status of the defense. He does think the offense with show immense improvement, thanks to additions of Hischier and Marcus Johansson. One interesting choice he made was putting Michael Kapla on the opening night defense over Steve Santini.
