On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, reaction from Cory Schneider missing the NHL top ten goalie list, the Devils hiring TSN’s Amanda Stein and a new ECHL affiliate.

The NHL came out with its list of the top ten goalies in the NHL, and some people are very upset with the results. Obviously, whenever anyone comes out with a list of “best of in the league” some fans will be upset. DJ Bean with CSN New England was calling for the hometown boy Cory Schneider to make the list. Unfortunately, the New Jersey Devils netminder was anything but good last season. Yes, the article spends more time talking about Tuuka Rask, rightfully so, but Schneider was enough of a miss to make it to the headline. To be fair, Schneider did rank 11th on the list.

Very bad top 10 goalie rankings leaves off both Tuukka Rask and Cory Schneider

Todd Correll with Hockey Buzz loses his optimism for the season thanks to Ray Shero’s inability to upgrade the defense. He looks at the blueline and sees more of what we all saw last season. On the ice, it was sad to see them leave Schneider out to dry on a nightly basis. He could be right, if the defense plays like it did last year this will be a long season. The only saving grace is the Andy Greene’s decline may not be as bad as last season, Ben Lovejoy can’t possibly play as bad as last season and Steve Santini really steps up.

Without upgrade on defense, Devils probably in for another long season

Nick Varney with All About the Jersey talks about the Devils most recent hire, Amanda Stein. She comes over from TSN to cover New Jersey’s team full time. She’s a great reporter, and really won over Devils fans when she was covering the team’s development camp a few weeks ago. She should be a great addition to your Twitter follows.

The Adirondack Thunder announced a one-year affiliation agreement with the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. As part of that announced they also gave the head coaching job to former Atlanta Thrasher Brad Tapper. What’s interesting is the team plays a hop, skip and a jump away from Albany where the Devils are no longer affiliated.
