On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, rumors swirl of a David Pastrnak trade, more trade speculation and the end of Alex Kerfoot as a Devil.

NHL Network analyst Brian Lawton reported that Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak contract negotiations are going so poorly, he could be traded. This put almost every fanbase in a tizzy, including the New Jersey Devils fanbase. Many speculate what the Devils could give up in order to bring the 21 year old on the roster. Pucks and Pitchforks talks about why a trade for Pastrnak would hurt the team’s chances to get an upgrade on the blueline.

New Jersey Devils Shouldn’t Trade For David Pastrnak

Speaking of speculation, John Fischer with All About The Jersey looks at which teams the Devils could target in a cap-strapped deal. Unfortunately, the players to be had aren’t as sexy as a Marcus Johansson deal. Riley Sheahan would be an interesting pickup from the Detroit Red Wings. He wouldn’t cost much and could easily move on if he fails to impress with the Devils. He would probably only cost a future third-round pick to add to the Devils bottom-six depth.

Let’s Speculate Trades for the Devils and Cap-Strapped Teams

Ian Reid with FanSided’s Puck Prose names the three major X-factors for the Devils season. The players seem pretty obvious. Cory Schneider had a terrible season, and if he repeats that effort the Devils aren’t going anywhere. Taylor Hall needs to step up to that next level now that the Devils have more depth at forward. Nico Hischier needs to show the skills that made him a first overall pick.

New Jersey Devils: Three Potential X-Factors

Todd Correll with HockeyBuzz looks at today’s available college free agents. One of which is particularly interesting to the Devils is Alex Kerfoot. Shero said re-signing Kerfoot was likely a lost cause if he makes it to August 15th, which is today. Kerfoot can now sign with any team in the league without harm. Correll also looks at the posibilities for Will Butcher, who could be a target for the Devils. If they were to sign him, fans would forget about Kerfoot pretty quickly. Unfortunately, teams like Pittsburgh and Chicago probably have the best chance.

Kids and families who love minor league baseball could meet Devils players, ones they could remember for years. It only takes small moments to make a fan for life.
