On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, after months of waiting, the team opens training camp today and one lucky fan won season tickets thanks to Twitter.
Tyler Kelley with Pucks and Pitchforks goes over the five things New Jersey Devils fans need to watch during training camp, which begins today. There are the the obvious things, like how Nico Hischier does in his first camp, but there are other things that aren’t so obvious. I, personally, am curious how Drew Stafford fits into the lineup. The Devils surprisingly signed him late in the offseason for a guaranteed deal to play right wing. Kelley says he wouldn’t be surprised if he finds himself playing on the second line.
New Jersey Devils: 5 Things to Watch at Training Camp
Andrew Gross with Northjersey.com gives his take on the burning questions going into training camp. Again, he goes over Hischier’s chances of making the team and who replaces Travis Zajac, but his most interesting question is who plays on the top line. It seems obvious on paper. Most people would say put Andy Greene and Damon Severson on the line and call it a day. This may end up being the top line, but watch out for some wild cards.
Devils’ Training Camp Countdown: 5 key questions
Gerard Lionetti with All About The Jersey is as excited as we all are for training camp to start. He’s curious at which young players besides Hischier that could crack the lineup. There are an abundance of choices. Blake Speers and John Quenneville both played some time last season, but they are anything but locks to make it Opening Night.
A very lucky fan won season tickets thanks to an easy Twitter campaign. The Devils challenged Nick Donnelly to get 9,450 retweets to win a year’s worth of Devils games. This was a great way for the Devils to gain some positive fan points after a terrible campaign to try and fill the Prudential Center that advertised to opposing fans. This reminded some fans of the famous Wendy’s campaign that went viral.

Puck Prose on the FanSided Network asks some burning questions about the Devils. The most burning question perhaps is whether or not Taylor Hall can lead this offense. He came over last year with huge expectations, but didn’t exactly live up to them. It was mostly not his fault, but at the end of the day he needs to be at least a 30 goal scorer.
