On today’s New Jersey Devils Daily, an update to injuries to Cory Schneider and Kyle Palmieri, how the young Devils are adjusting to the NHL and Mirco Mueller needs to step up.

Cory Schneider and Kyle Palmieri missed New Jersey Devils practice on Tuesday. Chris Ryan looked into the injuries to the Devils’ stars. Head coach John Hynes says fans have to wait until Thursday to have a better idea what their status could be this week. Having a week off from games gives the team the luxury of time and rest. Both players are considered day-to-day at this point, but more time is needed before a decision for Friday’s game against the Senators is made.

Ryan also wrote for NJ.com about how the young Devils are adjusting to the NHL. Just think about this, Will Butcher already played 20 percent of his college season after playing eight games, so this break could be huge for the rookies. Butcher is using this down time to watch video and fixing any on-ice mistakes. Jesper Bratt, who’s cooled off after being on fire to start, says that recovery is key. Hynes also talks about some off the ice things that are important like eating and sleeping right.

How younger Devils are adjusting to NHL workload

Pucks and Pitchforks looks at the early season struggles of Mirco Mueller. Despite showing offensive prowess in the preseason, he hasn’t had confidence in his shot to start. He has less shots on goal than everyone on the team. Yes, that includes Ben Lovejoy. Mueller has the chance to solidify his spot on this team, and fill their only dark spot. He just needs to use that rocket of a shot he possesses.

New Jersey Devils: Time For Mirco Mueller To Step Up

John Schweibacher with CBS New York talks about the Devils break-neck start, and where it stands in Devils history. Just four times ever has the team won six of the first eight games to start the season. Surprisingly, only one of those teams was a Stanley Cup winner (2002-03 season). John Moore scored his fifth overtime goal in their last win against the Ottawa Senators. That goal tied him with Ilya Kovalchuk and Brian Gionta for fourth on the all-time Devils list. He has a ways to go to get to Patrik Elias at 16, but Scott Niedermayer at eight is definitely do-able if he sticks around. The most glaring stat is the Devils took 21 road games to win four last season. The Devils are 4-0 on the road this season.

Brian Franken with All About The Jersey gives his weekly update on Devils’ prospects. One worrisome note was the play of Nikita Popugaev with Prince George of the WHL. He was dropped to the fourth line despite having first-round talent. In a matchup of Devils prospects, Joey Anderson and Brett Seney played in the NCAA. Seney scored two goals, while Anderson lit the lamp once.
