Tier 1

Evander Kane

Projected Contract 6 years $7 million AAV

I like Evander Kane.  He’s a great hockey player.  The New Jersey Devils simply should make Kane an offer, something in the ballpark of a 5×5.  He’ll say no and we can all move on.  There is no reason the Devils should be offering Evander Kane what he’s going to make.  There are lesser options that can fill this top six role at a fraction of the cost.

David Perron

Projected Contract 6 years $6.7 million AAV

Perron just turned 30, and in all honesty I don’t think he’s that great of a player.  I don’t know that he’d fit in New Jersey and for what he’s projected to make on the open market this is an easy pass for me.  No thanks!
