5. Jesper Bratt

Jesper Bratt is an extremely interesting case coming into training camp. He’s a lock to make the roster, so that isn’t in question. However, it’s hard to figure where he fits into the lineup. Is he a third liner with scoring upside? Is he the partner for Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall? Is he the key to making Marcus Johansson work? What is Jesper Bratt?

Bratt has a ton to lose this training camp. If he comes in playing like he did in the first half of last season, or playing like he did in last year’s training camp, he’ll be on one of the top lines. If he plays like he did in the second half, then he’s going to find himself on the bottom six, or worse.

Bratt was a surprise sixth-round pick that came out of nowhere to make the roster. He was supposed to be in Juniors last year, and possibly this year. Now, he’s a lock for the roster, but not a lock for the top of the lineup. He still has a lot to prove, and therefore a lot to lose here.
