4. Joey Anderson

Some may say that Joey Anderson has nothing to lose, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He’s only signed for two more seasons with the Devils, then he becomes a restricted free agent. That’s not a ton of time to prove yourself.

He’s never had trouble proving himself. He was the captain of Team USA during the most recent World Juniors Championship. He was also part of the team that won the gold medal. Anderson led Minnesota Duluth to the NCAA Championship this past season. He continues to prove himself no matter what the task.

However, this is the biggest task laid in front of him. This is the NHL. The big leagues is just different than anywhere else you play. Also, if he doesn’t make the big club, he makes $70,000 for his time rather than over $900,000. So basically he goes from making huge money to making accountant money.

Anderson was penciled in to most people’s lineups when predicting who makes the Devils, but he’s not a lock. Players like Mike McLeod and Nick Lappin can take his spot. Or…
