1. Eddie Lack

This one is a little obvious when you think about it. Eddie Lack is literally playing for his career. If he flames out this training camp, and Cam Johnson or MacKenzie Blackwood secure the backup position in Cory Schneider‘s absence, then his career may be on its last leg.

Lack re-signed with the Devils strictly for this first month stretch where he could be the backup to Keith Kinkaid. After that, he knows he’s going back to the AHL, but he could propel that performance into one last show with an NHL team. If he flames out in training camp, he may not even get that opportunity.

A once promising career is close to being over. He’s on the wrong side of 30, and hasn’t been given a starting goalie position in three seasons. Since he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, nothing seems to be working out. If he can put together a good camp, he can turn it into one last shot with another franchise. He could even be traded to a team before the season is over. It all starts with this training camp.
