5. Taylor Hall For Hart Trophy

We’ll start off with the obvious one. Taylor Hall is still the Devils most valuable player. The team didn’t add new players in the offseason, so Hall is still carrying the same parts. If the team makes the playoffs this season, it will once again be on the back of Hall.

It will be much harder for Hall to win the MVP this season than it was last season. For one, the same narrative will not win him the award. Hall won the Hart thanks to the lack of help he received throughout the lineup. For one, we all expect Nico Hischier to improve. Also, the voters won’t care enough about that for it to work this year.

Instead, Hall needs to hit 100 points. He scored 93 points in 76 games last season, so 100 isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Hall needs to make sure this team gets to the playoffs, and he needs to have a season that exceeds what he did last season.
