The New Jersey Devils had a very up-and-down month as a team for the first month of the season. While things didn’t go exactly as planned, they sure could have gone worse. So, how did everyone grade out over the first 30 days?

We are finally at November 1st, and the NHL season is in full swing. The New Jersey Devils started the season as the last team in the league to lose, but has been mediocre at best since then. The schedule has been weird, starting the season in Europe and now embarking on a seven-game road trip.

Right now, Devils fans have a terrible taste in their mouths. Coming off an 8-3 defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning will do that to you. It was indicative of how the Devils did all month, but it did show this team they aren’t as good as they think they are. It was quite the humbling experience for the players, coaches and the fans.

Still, overall this month hasn’t been terrible. The Devils are sitting outside of a playoff spot, something they never did last season, but have played the least amount of games in the National Hockey League. The Eastern Conference has been very competitive to start, and no team really made a move to stay on top of any division.

The Devils players have been anywhere from amazing, to massive disappointments. As with every year, there are varying levels of happiness with the Devils lineup. That means, it’s time to grade the team on their early performance. Without further ado, here are the Devils grades for the month of October.

Remember, these grades are on a scale. Taylor Hall has to work much harder for a grade than Brian Boyle does. The grade is a formula of performance against expectation.
