The New Jersey Devils have a very important NHL Draft coming up. They could still get some very, very good talent in the 4th round.
This year’s NHL Draft might be the most important of the Ray Shero era for the New Jersey Devils. Yes, they have a harrowing decision at the top with the first-overall pick between Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko, but the front office also has eight other picks to make.
We’ve gone over the 2nd round and 3rd round picks last month, but we waited for more information before going into prospects beyond the top 100. Now that more and more analysts are looking at the NHL Draft as a whole, there’s more information out there on these prospects going in the later rounds.
The 4th round is where general managers start to take some serious chances. Here is where rankings don’t necessarily matter, and GMs are willing to go off the board to take the players they want. That makes this exercise a little harder, but we’ll go with our favorite fits with the Devils’ 96th overall pick.
Some of these players fit positions of need, and others are players we think Shero will like as fits on the Devils. Either way, they’ll all go somewhere in the 96 range.
