The New Jersey Devils prospect made a wise decision on who he decided to spend his summer with. This guy could really help him along.

The New Jersey Devils really might have something in their third-best prospect, Jesper Boqvist. He has really come along as a top offensive prospect for the Devils and he has a chance to be a real difference maker. The Devils selected him in the 2nd round of the 2017 NHL Draft out of Brynas in Sweden. He is looking to make the switch to the NHL this season. It will either be Brynas or the Devils for Boqviist.

He started training with former Brynas player and current Washington Capitals center, Nicklas Backstrom. The Capitals have been very fortunate to have Backstrom in the fold for all these years.  Backstrom has 231 goals and 642 assists for 873 career points. He has been one of the best passers of his generation and the numbers reflect it.

It is very good news that Boqvist is taking it upon himself to train with his fellow countryman in Sweden next month. It should help him along in his development because Backstrom has lots of knowledge that he can pass along to Jesper. If he can give him some hints and allow Boqvist to pick his brain a little bit, this could do a great deal of good for him.

Boqvist is going to be given the opportunity to stay in New Jersey this season. He is going to have to have a really strong training camp and preseason if that is going to happen. Many project that if he does make it, he will slot into the top six right away and perhaps be given the opportunity to replace Marcus Johansson. It is a great opportunity for him and hopefully, he runs with it.

It would be great to see Boqvist on a line with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt at some point. That line would be able to absolutely fly. It is hard to contain speed and skill and that line would bring both of those two things for the Devils. Either way, Boqvist training with Backstrom is awesome news and everyone in the Devils organization should be happy about it.
