Jesper Boqvist

Jesper Boqvsit was one of the best players in the entire tournament, not just for the New Jersey Devils but for any team. He played on a line with Hughes and Clarke so it was definitely the go-to line for the offense. He dominated most shifts he played and he showed that he has all the tools necessary to step into the NHL relatively soon. He may even find himself in the opening night lineup depending on how things shake out.

As for the tournament, you may think that it would be easy for Boqvist because he was playing on a line with the number one overall pick. The truth is, they fed off each other. They made each other look good instead of Jack being the only guy making others look better. Boqvist showed that he can create chances for Hughes just as good as Hughes did for him. It was a dual effort as far as creating for the duo.

Hughes getting the day off for the Saturday game against the Pittsburgh Penguins allowed the team to look at Boqvist at the center ice position. He didn’t disappoint as he showed he can play both center and wing throughout different points of the tournament. It is good to have the versatility as a forward and the Devils are definitely getting that from Jesper Boqvist.
