The New Jersey Devils need MVP level play from Taylor Hall and he has been very good to start the season and they need that to continue.
The New Jersey Devils have lots of fans overreacting after two gut-wrenching losses and that is a natural part of being a sports fan. One thing that has been out there that is simply not true is some negative evaluations of Taylor Hall through two games. Taylor Hall has been the best player for New Jersey through two games and that is going to continue for the rest of the season and if he signs a contract extension he probably will be the best player on the team for the next half-decade.
Hall has an assist in each of the first two games and has plenty of chances. Hall had seven shot attempts and six-shot assists in their most recent game against the Buffalo Sabres and no other forward was even close. He has the ability to drive offense like no other player on the team at the moment and they need him bad. Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes have the potential to get on Hall’s level one day offensively, but they are not there yet.
Hall is a player that comes through an organization once every generation and the Devils and their fans need to understand that. It is nonsense to say that he has been quiet through the first two games. Has he had any game-breaking plays that are the sole reason the Devils won or had a four-point night yet? No, but that doesn’t mean he was sleeping through the first two games either.
The same can pretty much be said for his entire line. Hischier and Kyle Palmieri have been good to start the season as well. That is pretty much the only line that has been consistently good through the season so far. They might be split up in the next game against the Philadelphia Flyers but that might be okay. They need to help get some other players going. This is a talented group and led b Hall, they have what it takes to turn this into a special season.
