The New Jersey Devils blew another lead and they lost their top center in Nico Hischier in the game. Things are not going well right now.

The New Jersey Devils lost again. This time to the Florida Panthers and that drops them to an 0-4-2 record, still searching for their first win. This leaves them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Already, they are in big trouble. This loss is unacceptable and one that will sting this team for a long time. If they don’t get it together soon, they will be in the lottery conversations once again.

This loss came with another price as top center Nico Hischier didn’t play after the first period for the Devils. That is a major loss because Hischier brings so much to this team. He kills penalties, plays on the power play, and is great in all three zones at even strength. This would be a huge loss if the Devils were to miss him at any point this season and especially now when they are a fragile team. The team will likely announce the issue with him over the next 24 hours and hopefully, it is good news.

The Devils know what Hischier brings but, to be honest, he along with every other player on the team needs to be even better. This is a talented group and they are not getting good results. They are losing games with a roster that should absolutely not be winless in six games to start the season. The season is not for sure over and things can be turned around, but if they are going to do something to get things right they are going to need to figure it out fast. You can’t keep playing the same way and expect things to change because they won’t.

The Devils are back in action on national television for everyone to see on Thursday night when the long-awaited meeting between Kaapo Kakko and Jack Hughes finally re-ignites the Hudson River Rivalry between the Devils and New York Rangers. Hopefully, Nico Hischier is okay and is able to help them win that game and end this misery.
