The New Jersey Devils are back in action after their first win of the season. This time, the newest “first family” of the NHL meets for the first time.

The New Jersey Devils announced on Friday that they extended Nico Hischier‘s contract an extra seven years with an average annual value of $7.25 million. That is a really good deal and huge news for the Devils organization as one of their cornerstone pieces is locked up long term. However, that story won’t have all the spotlight on Saturday afternoon.

The Devils have an afternoon matinée against the Vancouver Caunucks at the Prudential Center and it will be the first time that Jack Hughes faces his older brother Quinn Hughes in an NHL game. It is an exciting time for fans of both teams as both players are major parts of each team’s future. They believe that each of their guys is going to be the best player at their position on their respective teams and it really has the potential to come to fruition.

Jack earned his first career NHL point in the Devils’ most recent game against the New York Rangers with an assist on a Miles Wood goal. It was a huge moment for him as he can now worry about playing his game with the monkey off his back. He is still looking for his first goal but it is coming and he gets better and more comfortable in every game.

Quinn has one goal and two assists so far from the back end for Vancouver and he will be looking to add to that against his brother’s Devils. It should be a really good game between two teams who are looking to prove a lot of people wrong this season. The two brothers apparently have 75 friends and family members attending the game at The Rock which should make it an extremely fun time for both sides.

All in all, Jack needs to make sure he is focused and ready to go as the Devils desperately need to win this game. They have some momentum as an organization after earning their first win over their biggest rival and the news about Hischier. This is a good chance to carry some of that momentum into their second victory in a row. If they win all of a sudden they will look like a team that can string a few together.
