The New Jersey Devils have a very tough matchup. Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks have had a bad year but have been great lately.

The New Jersey Devils were not good over the weekend. They were handed pretty convincing losses by the Washington Capitals and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday and Saturday night respectively. The team is in a bit of a rut now after riding the high of the Taylor Hall rumors for a few games. They need to get back on track and start doing what it was that made them successful against the Arizona Coyotes and Anaheim Ducks.

They are in Chicago tonight to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. This Blackhawks team is also in the last place of their division after having some decent expectations going into the season. This isn’t the same team that won the Stanley Cup three times in six years but they still have some studs like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. They also have some really good goaltending with Robin Lehner and Corey Crawford so it will be interesting to see what the Devils are able to muster up against them.

Stopping Patrick Kane is the big key for the New Jersey Devils. He has 20 goals and 26 assists for 46 points this season so far in 37 games. He is the normal elite Kane that everybody expected and he carries the team on certain nights. There were times that their GM and/or coach would be fired the next game if they lost and Kane went out there and had three or more points in a win. If the Devils are able to neutralize him they will have a decent shot to win.

Chicago called up an old friend of the Devils in John Quenneville. The Devils sent him over to the Blackhawks during the summer for John Hayden. Hayden hasn’t really been much for this team so if young Quenneville can go in there and provide a spark, then you could absolutely say that the Hawks won that trade. There is a good chance that he makes his season debut here with this call-up.

The United Center is the building that Nico Hischier was made the first overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. He has had some good moments in that building so hopefully, he can make some more in this game. You never really know what kind of game you are going to get from either of these two teams so let’s hope for some fireworks and a New Jersey Devils win.
