The New Jersey Devils have one All-Star in Kyle Palmieri but now it is up to us to try to get Nico Hischier to join him in St. Louis.

The New Jersey Devils are not having a great season. They have been a little better lately, but there is no doubt that the season as a whole has been a major disappointment. A few individuals have been a bright spot for this team. Kyle Palmieri has been one of them. He leads the team in goals and points. His efforts earned him a spot representing the New Jersey Devils on Team Metro. It will be his second year in a row he received the honor.

That is not enough for us Devils fans. We deserve much more so it is time to act on it. Nico Hischier has been named as the Devils’ finalist for the “Last Man In” vote for the Metropolitan Division. It will not be easy as there are some great players up there to be voted in. He is going up against Teuvo Taravainen, Nick Foligno, Brock Nelson, Mika Zibanejad, Claude Giroux, Kris Letang, and T.J. Oshie. If he can get it, it would be awesome news for Devils fans.

Hischier has taken tremendous steps in his development this season. He is second on the team in scoring behind Palmieri, and he seems to be getting even better at putting the puck in the net. He currently has eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points in 34 games played. Now, he wasn’t so hot offensively to start off, but he has caught fire lately. His defensive game has been great since he was a rookie and the points are now starting to come. He is also taking that step as a leader on this team.

Hischier deserves to be recognized by the NHL as a whole. He was a number one overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft but people who don’t watch the Devils a lot don’t actually realize how good he actually is. He is developing into one of the premiere two-way forwards in the game. He didn’t have a 40 goal rookie season like Auston Matthews or 100 points in three of his first four seasons like Connor McDavid so some people might think he isn’t living up to his draft order. With that said,  he is clearly worthy of his draft spot and deserves to be an All-Star.

The 2020s should be better than the 2010s for the Devils. light. Related Story

It is up to us Devils fans to be there for Nico and help him get in. The more Devils that make it the better it is for the team and their confidence. These two players deserve it. Jack Hughes will start to get looks at the big game soon enough as well because the selection committee loves offensive players and marketable stars. The future of the Devils is clearly bright with these guys leading the way. Now, let’s get Nico in!
