New Jersey Devils. John Hayden. 2. player. 85. . Forward

The Devils gave up on John Quenneville over this last summer when they traded him to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for John Hayden. It doesn’t really seem like it is a win or a loss because both players are not impactful. Quenneville has played with both the Chicago Blackhawks and Rockford Ice Hogs in 2019-20 but he hasn’t made the Devils look bad for trading him.

The only thing that looks bad is that Hayden is still in the Devils lineup regularly. Hayden doesn’t really bring anything to the Devils in any facet of the game. He only has one goal and one assist for two points so the offense is clearly not something he brings to the table. His only has a 38.9 CorsiFor% this season so he doesn’t even help contribute to the team creating any type of offense whatsoever as far as a shot generation.

The Devils are a better team when they don’t have Hayden in the lineup. There are so many better options sitting there in the American Hockey League that they could call up. Michael McLeod, Joey Anderson, or Nathan Bastian would all be more fun to watch in this role. It feels like they gave up on the season when he started becoming a regular in the lineup.
