Lou Lamoriello has apparently tried to acquire Zajac multiple times since his departure from the New Jersey Devils. Lou was there when Zajac first came into the league, so he knows how good of a player he can be when he is in a position to succeed. Zajac might accept a trade to the New York Islanders just based on the fact that Lou is there. They are also one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference that could give him a chance to win.

The Islanders are praised for their commitment to team defense. They have some offensive studs on their team, but some of them sacrifice a few points to commit to team defense. Achieving a common goal is the most important thing for every player on that team. They have really started to play an admirable brand of hockey ever since Lou Lamoriello and Barry Trotz took over. They are really a team that works harder than everyone else with less, which makes it even more frustrating to watch this Devils team.

Zajac’s game is always more focused on the defensive side of the puck. He has shown the ability to score in the past when he is given the time and space, but he is always back in the right areas. The Islanders create their offense by capitalizing on mistakes and using the defense to create offense. Zajac would fit right in with that system in the middle-six group of forwards.
