The New Jersey Devils have played well lately, and now Cory Schneider finally got to enjoy some of the fun as he gets his first win of the season.

The New Jersey Devils earned a big win over the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit is a historically bad team this season, but that shouldn’t take anything away from some of the performances put on by certain players. One of those players is goaltender Cory Schneider. The 4-1 victory was his first NHL win since March of 2019. It was so nice to see Schneider finally get in the win column.

It has been a rough season once again for Schneider. He has been back and forth from the AHL and NHL for a few months now. He started to really play well for the Binghamton Devils from about Christmas on. He is probably going to be with the NHL club for the rest of the season. The team traded away Louis Domingue, so MacKenzie Blackwood and Schneider are your goalie-duo for the remainder of the season.

Schneider’s win was big for the team as a whole. Everyone in this organization loves that man. Fans have been hard on him for his play over the past few seasons, and justifiably so, but there is no doubt everyone wishes things were different. With Blackwood really showing signs of being a good number one, it isn’t all bad for the Devils as far as that goes. For tonight at least, we will enjoy the big win by Schneider.

Cory definitely had help in the win. In the last four road starts for Schneider, the Devils scored exactly zero goals in all of them. In this game, they gave him all the offense they would need. Nikita Gusev continued his hot play by adding another goal and assist. The man called Goose has been phenomenal this season. Everyone should be so excited to see what he can do next season and beyond.

Jack Hughes looked like the number one overall pick that he was in this game. The Devils desperately need to see that start to happen more often. He was also on the physical side a little bit in this game as well. It was also cool to see Joey Anderson step up for him when Detroit players were trying to bully him. Anderson, who also scored a goal, was noticeable in all areas in this game. All of this was the perfect lead up to Schneider getting his first win of the season.
