Jesper Boqvist

The New Jersey Devils have a lot of expectations for Jesper Boqvist. They selected him in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He is a guy who projects to be a top-six forward in the NHL. The Devils can only hope that he reaches that potential someday. He got his NHL career going this year where he was an up and down player. It wasn’t fun watching him play on the fourth line but there were times where he showed flashes of his brilliance.

Boqvist avoided having to play in juniors this season by spending all that time with the New Jersey Devils. He eventually became AHL eligible and that is now where he is. The Devils sent him down right before the All-Star break. It is a better spot for him right now because he can play the proper minutes for his skill set and with better players.

Boqvist is a big part of the Devils’ future. It is important to pay attention to him in Binghamton because the goal is for him to be back in New Jersey next season. If he can get some playoff experience this year in the AHL, that will be great for him going into next year. He has played well for them so if he can help them play into the playoffs, it is good news for the future of the New Jersey Devils.
