The New Jersey Devils’ own P.K. Subban went on one of the biggest sports stages in the world and had some interesting things to say about how the NHL season could return.

New Jersey Devils’ defenseman P.K. Subban went on ESPN’s First Take during the quarantine that the world is currently in to talk about his efforts to help people, the NHL, and a little bit of football. One thing he said, in particular, should make people think about something that might happen once this is all over. Subban has made multiple appearances on the show now, which is cool because he brings the Devils to a huge national audience.

Of course, they did have to talk a little bit of Dallas Cowboys football because it is First Take after all. Subban is a fan of the team and his friendship with Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones has been documented on social media by Subban. That conversation was fun but it came after a conversation about the NHL resuming at some point this year.

The coronavirus pandemic caused the season to pause but the Devils were way out of the playoff race. Now that the season is paused with a chance to resume, people wonder how the league will handle the playoffs. Well, Subban believes that a league-wide playoff would be a good thing for the league. The Devils would be able to then participate and have a fighters chance.

The fact that P.K. sees this as a possibility has to mean that it is at least being discussed. It doesn’t seem likely that he would talk about it if it wasn’t a possibility. He believes they would have a chance to win the Stanley Cup which is crazy. To be honest, it is still good that players on this team have a belief in themselves and their teammates regardless of it is right or wrong.

It is really cool to see a guy like Subban go on the air and debate sports with Stephen A. Smith, Molly Qerim, and Max Kellerman on such a big stage. He hasn’t had the best season from a production standpoint, but we can still hang on to hope that he is able to have a good summer and get back to playing well in 2020-21.
