The New Jersey Devils were loosely mentioned in a report that they could be in for a new alternate jersey. It’s not the black one we all want. It’s green.

There’s not a lot of hockey news going on right now, but there seems to be plenty of reports of what might happen in the future. Some are talking about how the playoffs may look after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, and others are looking ahead at free agency and the draft. Here in New Jersey, we’re hearing reports of new jerseys! In fact, the New Jersey Devils are reportedly tied to a possible green jersey.

The report from Icethetics says their “sources” within the organization says that a green jersey is in the works for this year. The writer does go on to say this source doesn’t have a proven track record, but it’s interesting to think about.

Obviously, for most of the Devils fanbase, when they hear about a fourth jersey they are looking for a black alternate. It’s all a lot of fans have wanted for the Devils for a long time. With Adidas coming in with some interesting ideas, fans held hope for concepts of the sort. When the Devils replaced the green in their logo for black, it always made a black jersey the pinnacle for us.

Yet, somehow, the team reportedly heard “we want a green jersey”. Our friends at the Backhanded Devils took a stab at making a green jersey. We’re not fans (although they’ve made some other concepts that are stellar).

It looks like Christmas and camouflage had an ugly baby. There is no way to make a green and red jersey look good. The Milwaukee Bucks is about the only one in sports we can think of. Everything else is a Chinese knockoff they make for Christmas time. Even the Bucks jerseys that don’t have the red are much, much better.

Hopefully this is an idea that gets taken off the table. The Devils don’t need another jersey right now, especially if it’s not the black jersey people clamor for. Green is just such an odd choice.
