The New Jersey Devils are going to be a team that competes for the Draft Lottery so preparing to know what prospects are available is important.

The New Jersey Devils had a bad year. They were expected to be good, but instead, they failed to meet any of their high expectations. They made multiple acquisitions over the past few seasons. The two most important are Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes in the NHL Draft. They won the lottery in 2017 and 2019 which led to them drafting these two young men. They are both equally as important to the future of the organization.

With another tough season in the making for New Jersey, they seem destined to make another high pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The odds of them winning the lottery again are very slim and even being in the top-three is a long shot. It would certainly be great if they were able to get lucky again and selected another impact player. We don’t know how the league is going to handle the lottery this year but the Devils certainly will be getting a high-level prospect.

If the Devils are lucky enough to be picking in the top-five, they are going to get a great player. There is one player that is the clear number one overall pick, there are two guys battling for second and third, a really good offensive defenseman, and other really good players that are going in the top-ten. If the Devils are able to get a highly skilled player with their draft pick, they will be very well off.

The Devils have the Arizona Coyotes pick and the Vancouver Canucks pick (if they make the playoffs), but those picks won’t be in the top five. If the Devils are picking in the top five, it will be with their own pick. These are the five best players for them to take in the top five of the 1st round:
