Jacob Perreault
The New Jersey Devils are one of those teams that come across as a team that needs defense. Well, they wouldn’t be hurt by adding some more forwards as well. If they wanted to look ahead to Jacob Perreault, it might not end up being such a bad idea. Perreault is a centerman that currently plays for the Sarnia Sting of the OHL.
For being 5’11’ and 18 years old, he has a good amount of weight on him at 198 lbs. He is projected to go somewhere in the 20-28 range so if the Devils see him as a top prospect forward with the Vancouver pick, it might be worth the risk when you look at his numbers. He played hockey for the Chicago Mission before making it to the Ontario League and the Sarnia Sting.
In his first full season with the Sting, it was a good year as he scored 30 goals and added 25 assists for 55 points in 63 games. He improved even further in 2019-20 as he had 39 goals and 31 assists for 70 points in 57 games before the season was canceled. His level of play only projecting to be mid to late-rounder this year just shows how deep the draft actually is. He should go back to Sarnia in 2020-21 and light it up, even more, making whoever drafts him look very good.
Obviously, these players might be a longshot to be drafted by New Jersey with any of their picks but you never know. The most important thing is that they take care of whatever needs to be done in order for this team to be successful.
