The New Jersey Devils had a terrible season where they traded away six NHL players in the middle of the season. Despite this, there are still multiple players that may have played their last game in a Devils uniform.

When a season goes as bad as this past one did for the New Jersey Devils, fans are going to see wholesale changes. We didn’t expect to see the sheer volume of changes we did, but this is what happens when they are the second most disappointing team in the league (San Jose Sharks are far and wide the winner in this category). Already, the Devils likely say the last games of Taylor Hall, Andy Greene, Blake Coleman, Wayne Simmonds, Louis Domingue and Sami Vatanen. That’s without even mentioning the fact they lost general manager Ray Shero and head coach John Hynes.

This offseason, we’re going to see more players leave the Devils for good. There are some that are up for unrestricted free agency and looking to assess their options. Others might be a decision by the Devils to move on because they didn’t get what they hoped for.

The Devils will have a multitude of options when it comes to moving on from the players they felt didn’t give them what they hoped for. Currently, there are three players up for unrestricted free agency on the NHL roster, then there’s another five up for restricted free agency.  Then there’s the players that could be traded or even bought out. The Devils have a lot of decisions to make, not least important who is going to be making these decisions since they haven’t officially named a GM.
