Washington Capitals. Ilya Kovalchuk. 17. player. 19. . LW

The most infamous player in the history of the New Jersey Devils has to be Ilya Kovalchuk. He was one of the best players in the league for a very long time but he left the Devils early into his monster contract for the KHL. He really left the organization in a bad spot and they are still feeling some of the effects to this day. He has since returned to the NHL and despite being extremely hated by Devils fans, there is still a bit of intrigue to watching him.

He returned to the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings in 2018. He spent parts of three seasons with them before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens. He wasn’t very good in Los Angeles but had a resurgence with Montreal. That earned him a trade to a contender when the Washington Capitals took him. Now, he will play for Washington in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Washington is one of those teams that had a top-four finish in the conference so they will be a part of the round-robin seeding tournament. They will be going up against the beasts of the east so nothing is going to be easy for them. What he does have going for him is the ability to play with great players like Alex Ovechkin, Niklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and TJ Oshie. This should be a fun team to watch as long as they remain in the tournament.
