Filip Forsberg

On paper, the Nashville Predators should want nothing to do with trading Filip Forsberg. In fact, they got Forsberg in a completely lopsided trade. (Remember Martin Erat? No?) Would the Predators be willing to give up on the 25-year-old left wing already? In a short answer, yes. Forsberg is still really good, but he hasn’t reached the peaks he hit three or four years ago.

Forsberg has dealt with injuries that have stopped him from hitting 30 goals in a season for three years in a row. Again, he’s very young in terms of hockey career at just 25 years old, but maybe they’re looking to make a change. This would cost the Devils a ton to make happen. This might include Kyle Palmieri and a 1st-round pick. However, it’s something the Devils would have to consider.

The Predators will likely want to open up a little cap space with Roman Josi‘s massive extension taking up $9 million in space. They have roughly $9.2 million in space. They have quite a few spots on the roster to fill. Obviously, they’d love to unload Kyle Turris‘ $6 million salary to make up that space, but who’s going after that deal? Could they even give him away at this point?

To make a move, they need to give up something of value. Maybe they would make Forsberg untouchable, but if not the Devils have to make an offer to see if Hynes would be willing to make a major move to get some of his guys back.
