The New Jersey Devils could be taking the big right wing in the NHL Draft.

The New Jersey Devils have a ton of needs across their prospect pool. Their pool is one of the deepest, if not the deepest in the NHL. However, it’s missing a lot of top-flight talent. Ty Smith is probably their best prospect. There’s a lot of NHL potential from players like Joey Anderson, Reilly Walsh, Janne Kuokkanen, and Nolan Foote. Yet, how excited do these players make fans?

Friend of the Let’s Go Devils Podcast Josh Bell ranked the Top 100 prospects in all of the NHL. The Devils had three on the list, but only Smith at number nine made the top 50. He’s honestly higher on Smith than others.

The Devils need to add high-quality talent at all positions. It all starts with the seventh-overall pick. The Devils choice will likely skyrocket all the way to the team’s top prospect immediately. This isn’t even an issue with the Devils prospects. This is just how good the prospects are in the top ten this year.

We’ve talked about Marco Rossi and Lucas Raymond already. It’s basically looking at the players most often tied to the Devils. The next in that progression is Sweden’s Alexander Holtz. Holtz has been all over the board between picks three and nine depending on which mock draft you’re reading at the moment.

The Devils would love a player like this for countless reasons, but we’ve widdled it down to five. He would eventually make them a lot better.
