The New Jersey Devils should have good players available at 18 and 20.

The New Jersey Devils will (in all likelihood) make three selections in the 1st round of the 2020 NHL Draft. They have the 18th pick from the Arizona Coyotes in the Taylor Hall trade and the 20th overall pick from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Blake Coleman trade (the pick originally belongs to the Vancouver Canucks and was given to the Lightning in the J.T. Miller trade). This is on top of their own pick, which sits at seventh overall. The Devils need to use these picks wisely to ensure they grow their organization even further.

A lot of people out there believe the Devils have one of the best prospect pools in the league. They often rank in the top three or top five of most lists in that department so hitting on these three picks would really help that cause even further.

With players like Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, and Jack Hughes already at the NHL level, all of these prospects flowing in could really help them become a good team sooner than people realize. When the old core that went to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final started to fade away this team needed a lot of work. It is slowly but surely starting to rise again.

It is going to be another year or two before they are even close to being a perennial playoff team, but the journey to that goal starts now. We know the group of players that might be available at pick seven already, but the 18th and 20th pick are important too. These are the five best options for the Devils with those two picks if they are still on the board.
