The New Jersey Devils are seeing Alexander Holtz light up the SHL.
The New Jersey Devils are a team loaded with good young players throughout the organization. The next one on the come up is Alexander Holtz. It has been a few weeks since New Jersey took him with the seventh-overall pick in the NHL Draft, and he is already making noise. Because of COVID-19, the National Hockey League is currently in its offseason, but the Swedish Hockey League is up and running.
Holtz has been sensational playing in that league ever since he was drafted. His ability to score goals over there is very good which is something that will get Devils fans excited. They lack young snipers and are loaded with young playmakers so he should be able to come in and have success right away.
As you can see with this goal in particular, Holtz is the type of player that just shoots. His shot is incredible so when he gets in open space he is so dangerous. It is exciting to think about what he might be able to do if a much more developed Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier were out there with him on NHL ice. Both of them are really good at making everyone around them better so finding a pure goal scorer like that would really help the team out.
Holtz clearly has the potential to end up being the best goal scorer of his draft class. It would be awesome to see him make a few teams regret passing on him because that would mean the Devils are super lucky to have him. Having balance is going to be key to taking the next step and adding a goal scorer like him will help create that balance.
There was a lot of Holtz love online yesterday because of that goal. It certainly was pretty and people love the fact that he has had such a good start to his SHL season. Every time he plays there seems to be an encouraging highlight that comes of it. Hopefully, he can keep it up. This is going to be a fun player to watch once he reaches the NHL with New Jersey. If he is able to score goals like this at the NHL level, the Devils’ attack will be pretty dangerous.
