The New Jersey Devils are going to look wildly different in 2030 despite the young talent on the team right now.

This week, our parent blog FanSided open the floodgates of future predictions. They debuted FanSided 2030, with various blogs making tongue-in-cheek predictions for what’s to come in the world of sports and entertainment. Some of the predictions include Frank Gore still somehow playing football, expanding the NHL by adding a European team, and Tim Tebow is the new head coach of the Florida Gators.

These predictions are obviously wild and meant for fun only. So, to join in on the fun, we took out our crystal ball to figure out what is going to be some of the craziest storylines following the Devils in 2030.

Obviously, the Devils look like they have their core for the next decade. 10 of the 14 likely forwards on the opening night roster are all 25 years old or younger. This includes newly acquired Andreas Johnsson, two first-overall picks in Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes, and a lot of players with immense upside. This doesn’t even include two of the Devils’ three 1st-round picks in Alexander Holtz and Dawson Mercer. They both look like they could play in the NHL right now and still compete, and they are both teenagers.

The Devils future is looking bright, so let’s skip the next ten years and fast forward to a competitive team. Who might be on the Devils radar? What moves would make them better? Is Tom Fitzgerald still holding the strings? There are a lot of fun storylines for the Devils over the next decade. However, as it will always be, things will circle around Hughes first and foremost.
