With little going on in the hockey world still and the season more than likely over a month away, fans still have lots to think about with the upcoming season and beyond. One of those things is the expansion draft for the Seattle Kraken, who will be selecting one player from each team this up coming summer.

The main part of t he rules fans need to know is protecting players works the same as it did for the Vegas Golden Knights draft. This means  teams can protect seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie, or eight total forwards or defensemen and one goalie. Players with no movement clauses must be protected unless the player waives it, which will cause some teams to regret giving those out.

The New Jersey Devils are in a fine position this way. Nobody on the team has a no-movement clause. Teams also do not need to protect first and second-year players. With all that said, the Devils will have some options and a lot will be depending on how certain players do this season. If the choice had to be made now, or the season was lost, here is how it may play out if not trades were made.
