New Jersey Devils: Lots Of Positivity Surrounding Binghamton
The New Jersey Devils haven’t played in over two weeks now. The Binghamton Devils have gotten off to a strong start while they were gone. They have a lot of excitement surrounding them so far this season and for good reason. They are such a deep team that has a legit chance to compete for tops in the division. The development of these players is so important to the future of the big club in New Jersey.
The New Jersey Devils are going to benefit from the way Binghamton plays this season.
Part of the excitement comes from certain young players. Of course, guys like Kevin Bahl and Nolan Foote are somewhat new to the organization as they were acquired in trades before the pause last year. Both of these guys are hopeful that they will be in New Jersey’s lineup as soon as next season. They might even be able to make their Devils debuts later this season, depending on how things continue to go.
Their most recent game against the Utica Comets had a few milestones in the game. The team as a whole got off to a slow start, but a couple of first pro goals got them going. Nikita Okhotiuk and Michael Vukojevic each scored their first of the season and first professional goal in their careers. Okhotiuk has been one of the most noticeable players on the team over the first three games. It’s nice to see him get rewarded with a goal.
As for Vukojevic, he is a guy who came in with little offensive expectation. Well, now he has the one goal and three assists through the first three games. At 19 years old, New Jersey has to like what they are seeing from him in Binghamton. This could be a player who shows himself to be a useful play for them at the pro level and maybe even the NHL level. Those four points of his are tied with Ben Street for the team lead.
Now that New Jersey is going to return to the ice, it is even more important that these guys in Binghamton continue playing well. You never know if New Jersey feels the need to make a call-up. Their next game is going to come on Wednesday against the Hersey Bears. Some of the previously mentioned players, along with guys like Reilly Walsh, Marian Studenic, and Mikhail Maltsev have a long way to go before the NHL but these games (and experience) can really help them get there.
