Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have gotten some great defense from Cody Ceci, which negates the usual need for defensive depth. However, they could always use more bodies on the blue line. They just got John Marino back from IR, so the right side of the defense is in great shape. However, the left side could definitely use someone else.

Mike Matheson hasn’t really worked out in Pittsburgh, but they are stuck with that contract. They could still upgrade with Ryan Murray, which would end up replacing Marcus Pettersson, who has seen his ice time plummet as his impact on the team has decreased.

The Penguins have bodies to play in the six defensive spots right now, but they could really use options for when they make the playoffs. Murray gives them someone to put in and out of the lineup, and if the Devils cover half the salary, he’d come as a bargain.

The Penguins just need someone to push into the lineup right now, and someone who could play in the top four if called upon. Murray can do that for this Penguins team, especially with a right side that consists of Letang, Marino, and Ceci. This is a player that could easily make the Penguins better now, and he’s someone that brings really good playoff experience for a Penguins team that is looking to avoid another first-round disappointment.
