The New Jersey Devils always have a special night when it’s “Hockey Fights Cancer” night at the Prudential Center. They have many places where the team has been directly impacted by someone with cancer. Brian Boyle was on the team when he was diagnosed with cancer, and he always had an awesome night on the ice when Hockey Fights Cancer was the theme. There are fans who have dealt with cancer, and there are prominent NHL names dealing with cancer right now.

The Devils announced that goalie Mackenzie Blackwood would be wearing the helmet created by a fan during this year’s Hockey Fights Cancer night.

Look at that mask! It’s awesome to say the least. Lucas Files designed the mask that Blackwood will wear during warmups and Blackwood is going to sign the mask for Lucas. Nico Hischier is also giving him a signed stick to honor his huge night.

We love to see athletes and sports teams help kids dealing with cancer. This is just another honor for the Devils and Lucas.

The good news is Lucas was dealing with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, but after three years of fighting, he finished treatment in 2018.

The Devils also announced that Dougie Hamilton will use a special stick on Sunday night. It’s to honor a little girl named Thea who unfortunately passed away while he was in Calgary.

It’s another great thing to see from the Devils. This cause is amazing, and the Devils are one of the teams who go all out on it.
