Happy Devils New Year!

The New Jersey Devils have looked impressive in the last two games to end the 2021 calendar year. The hope is they can continue this trend into the New Year.

Here are five simple things that the Devils can do to help themselves be a better hockey team in 2022. Honestly, we don’t think it can get much worse.

1. Play hard for an entire 60 minutes of a game.

Basically, show up to work and give a consistent effort for every game. If they do this every game, things will get better. The harder you work, the luckier you get. Plain and simple.

2. Shoot the puck quickly.

The team needs to stop waiting for the perfect pass or shot. Perfectionism will make you broke and you will get nothing. Just shoot the puck without any hesitation. Trust your teammates will go hard to the net for opportunities for a rebound.

3. More beef up front.

Love to see players with size like Pavel Zacha and Nathan Bastian get in front of the opposing goaltender to screen and cause chaos. This leads to better opportunities and scoring chances.

4. Clear the puck out of the zone with authority!

No more lazy clears. Get the puck out of your zone and use the boards effectively. This would eliminate a lot of the mistakes that lead to goals against.

5. Keep it simple.

That has been the theme as of late. Less is more. Don’t be too fancy. Play your game. That is how the New Jersey Devils can keep winning.

Then rinse and repeat.
