Jack Hughes Makes A Name For New Jersey Devils At All-Star Game
Jack Hughes was one of the players that stole the show on Friday night’s 2022 NHL Skills Competition. He made a mini version of himself come out of a magic box to take his shot for him at the Breakaway Challenege. He was as entertaining as anyone else in the game.
He didn’t win because of some foul play from actor and St. Louis native John Hamm. It was so much fun to see our guy in the spotlight during such a big event on the NHL calendar. The whole world now knows how awesome he is.
Coming into the actual All-Star Game, we didn’t know what to expect from the youngest player in the tournament. There are some outstanding players on Team Metropolitan that can make big-time plays and Jack Hughes fit right in.
In fact, he scored two goals in the Metro’s 6-4 victory over the Pacific Division. The Pacific Division had to be the favorites with guys like Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Mark Stone on the team but the Metro prevailed.
Jack Hughes put on a show once again during the NHL All-Star Game.
Hughes’ first goal was an awesome tip-in from a sweet pass made by Adam Pelech of the New York Islanders. At the time, the game was tied at 3 and Hughes put his team ahead for good. He sealed it with an empty netter to gain an early lead for All-Star Game MVP.
Hughes and the Metro team moved on to play the Central Division in the All-Star Game Final. Things went very well for Hughes in the final game for Jack Hughes. He had one goal and one assist in the final game which was a 5-3 victory for the Metropolitan Division.
After the game, Hughes was one of the favorites to be the All-Star Game MVP but it was given to Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers who also had three goals and one assist. Everybody played well but it would have been nice to see Hughes take home the car.
For being the youngest All-Star there, Hughes put together a really nice weekend. People will remember his magic act in the Skills Competition and outstanding performance in the All-Star Game for a long time. The Devils are lucky to have a star like this.
Hughes will now return to a 15-25-5 New Jersey Devils team that is not going to make the playoffs. They will, however, continue building towards the future with Hughes right in the middle of it. This weekend was another step towards him becoming a legit NHL superstar.
