Luke Hughes is having himself a weekend. With the Michigan Wolverines taking on their biggest rivals in the Ohio State Buckeyes, Hughes dominated the first game of the series leading to a UM win. He scored two goals including an empty netter to secure the win on Friday night. On Saturday night, the New Jersey Devils prospect went Super Saiyan.

Hughes had the puck in the defensive zone, and a burst of speed took him through center ice into the offensive zone. Then, he made an impressive deke to get past the defenseman, giving him a one-on-one matchup with the goaltender. He only had that person to beat. And well, just take a look at what happened next.

We can’t get over how great this goal is. Like, this is a stupendous work of art. Luke Hughes is getting his just due as of late. Many said the Devils were going to take one of the youngest players in the NHL Draft because he was the brother of the Devils star Jack Hughes. Luke Hughes might end up being the best of the bunch. This is no offense to Jack Hughes, but the Devils might have the rare star brothers combination that almost never happens in sports.

There hasn’t been a lot to be excited about if you’re a New Jersey Devils fans this season, but Luke Hughes has turned out much better than anyone could have hoped. After missing out on Team USA at the Olympics, Hughes took over as the top guy since Owen Power was representing Canada. He stepped up, and now he’s doing things like this.
