High-Upside Prospect

This would be the best possible outcome for the New Jersey Devils. They want a player who could theoretically help them soon. Maybe it’s a college prospect that’s looking for a shot on the NHL roster sooner rather than later. It’s possible to be a player who hasn’t lived up to his draft status, but there is still a ton of meat on the bone. This type of player would have to be under 22 years old. There’s also a chance it’s just a mid-round pick who originally wasn’t supposed to be much but has shown signs of being something more.

The Devils have a ton of prospects. It’s what happens when a team with veterans suddenly goes into the tank. They trade a ton of them away for young players so they have as many shots at NHL-caliber players as possible. Using Subban to get one more is a great situation for the Devils in general.

There are a lot of examples of who the Devils could target here. It all depends on who the Devils are dealing with. If it’s a team like, say, the Edmonton Oilers, then Ryan McLeod would be an interesting option. Obviously, his brother is on the Devils, and that’s sort of their thing now. There are plenty of other options around the league that would get Devils fans excited.
