Third Line: Tatar – Boqvist – Holtz

The third line becomes the only line to truly change from the last season. Boqvist took a huge step last year, setting career highs in goals & assists. The Devils would be wise to see how he would fair given more ice time. Tatar had a lackluster first year in the Garden State but could be a vital piece in the bottom six if he bounces back. Finally, the top prospect in the Devils’ organization makes the NHL roster. While Holtz still needs some time to truly become an elite winger, playing on the third line with some extended Power Play minutes could be extremely important in his development.

Fourth Line: Wood – Haula – Zetterlund

The fourth line sees some new faces as well. Though Fabian Zetterlund and Miles Wood both played in the NHL last year, it was only for brief cameos. The two heavyweights could provide the physicality and checking ability that a lot of the lineup lacks. Zetterlund especially, with his 5″11 & 200 lb frame, could be a diamond in the rough. Erik Haula, the piece the Devils got back in the Pavel Zacha trade, should be a perfect fit for the fourth line. A speedy center/winger who was a top faceoff man in the league. He can play up and down the lineup, as well as some PK time.
