New Jersey Devils: Aaron Judge Gives Us Taylor Hall Vibes

The New York Yankees are being carried completely by Aaron Judge. The only reason they win is because of his home runs. This sounds a lot like what Taylor Hall did in 2018.

Back in 2018, New Jersey Devils fans were riding high. They had the best player in the NHL playing for their team. Okay, maybe that’s conjecture, but Taylor Hall did win the MVP that season. It was for good reason, too. Hall carried the Devils on his back and brought them to the playoffs. They made it by merely one point after holding off the surging Florida Panthers.

It reminds us of a certain other situation that’s happening in Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees are being carried to the postseason by Aaron Judge. After netting a ton of points early in the season (just like the 2017-18 New Jersey Devils did), the Yankees have struggled mightily over the past six weeks. The only times the Yankees win are when Aaron Judge pushes them there.

Judge hit another home run on Monday, his third day in a row with a home run. It was the second win in a row, all thanks to Judge. The Yankees have 81 wins. 28 of those wins come with a Judge home run. The rest of the Yankees’ offense is inept. Judge has 117 RBIs, 48 more than the next player. Anthony Rizzo has 30 home runs, but it only comes with 71 RBIs.

That’s just like when Hall scored 39 goals (15 more than Kyle Palmieri) and 93 points (41 more than Nico Hischier). He was given the Hart Trophy for his efforts, and we’re expecting Aaron Judge to win the American League MVP.

We all know how it ended for the Devils. Despite Hall’s best efforts in the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Devils only won one postseason game. In those games, Hall scored six points. Couldn’t you see the same thing happening with the Yankees? Aaron Judge hits three home runs and Yankees still lose in a very annoying fashion.

For those of you who are Yankees fans (like me), we hope for a better fate. However, it has been nice to remember the good times. The Devils had this one magical season, and this season is the fifth since then. My goodness, we hope it’s the last one where we’re not competitive.
