The New Jersey Devils won their 13th straight game. They have now tied the franchise record for the most wins in a row. They are also just a handful of wins away from breaking the NHL record, which is incredible.

It wasn’t very easy for them. Jesper Bratt scored early to make it 1-0. He was the beneficiary of a great play by Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier. New Jersey’s three leading scorers were on another level in this game.

This is where things got uneasy for them. Despite taking the lead, they didn’t play very well in the first period. The Oilers tied it up at one going into the second period. That is a team with some obvious talent up front that can change a game.

From there, the Devils started to take over. Dawson Mercer later scored thanks to a smart play made by Nico Hischier to give the Devils the lead back for good. A few minutes later, Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes scored to give the Devils a 3-1 lead.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored to cut the lead back to one before Tomas Tatar scored a brilliant goal to get the two-goal lead back. Captain Nico Hischier earned his third assist of the night on this goal. Both of them were “stars of the game” for a reason.

Later in the third period, Yegor Sharangovich made a nice play to give the Devils that three-goal cushion they would hold until the end. After a rough start, they were able to hold the fort down against these very pesky Oilers.

The New Jersey Devils have tied the franchise record for most consecutive wins.

Hischier wasn’t the only player to earn multiple points in the game either, as Bratt, Hughes, and Mercer all had multi-point games. It was an incredible game for these elite players.

Vitek Vanecek was also incredible in the net, as he has been during the entire win streak. He made 28 saves on 30 shots in the victory. Solid goaltending has been needed to win this many in a row, and he has helped provide them with that.

Now, the Devils have a day off before their last game ahead of the American Thanksgiving holiday. They will try to break their franchise record on Wednesday night when they face the Toronto Maple Leafs at home. It should be another very tough test to get this record broken. We’ll see.
