The New Jersey Devils have been a bit cold lately following their incredible start to the season. However, they are still in the thick of the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference playoff race. They will get back on track. They are so young and only going to get better.

Adding even better players in the coming years will be key to getting better and finding consistency. We are seeing some of the young Devils prospects participate in the 2022-23 World Junior Championships that are taking place now.

A couple of days ago, we saw the top two New Jersey Devils prospects captain their teams against each other as Simon Nemec and Team Slovakia defeated Luke Hughes and Team USA. In that game, Nemec led his team to a big win by taking over from the blue line.

A day later, Hughes took his game to the next level against Team Switzerland. He scored a goal and dominated in every fashion of the game to help the USA bounce back and earn their second win. As for Nemec, he played his next game on Friday and dominated once again. He scored a goal on what was a beautiful play made by him. When he makes big plays, Slovakia has a chance to win. He is good enough to take over games but Slovakia goes as he goes.

New Jersey Devils prospects have been showing well at the World Juniors.

These are the two best prospects that New Jersey has sent to the tournament. Petr Hauser has been a solid power forward with Team Czech that has shown the ability to make big plays. He had an assist in their most recent game, an overtime loss to Team Sweden.

Topias Vilen is a Devils prospect that is playing defense with Team Finland. That team is having a down year, but they are high on Vilen as a potential NHL player one day.

Seamus Casey, Luke Hughes’ teammate at the University of Michigan, is also there with Team USA. However, he hasn’t played yet and is on the sidelines as an injury replacement. He is a very good player who deserves to be part of this team, and he will only get better with time. He might be on the team again next year and should be a big part of their success.

This tournament has been very good to watch so far for all hockey fans. Even though the draft lottery isn’t realistic for the Devils this year, watching guys like Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, and Leo Carlson has been great. There is plenty more where that came from.
