Vladimir Tarasenko

The St. Louis Blues has been on the downtrend this year and looking to unload contracts and make way for new assets. New Jersey has connections to the Blues organization with Martin Brodeur, the Devils head of hockey operations and a former Blues Assistant GM.

The Devils would be smart to target Vladimir Tarasenko when he returns from injury. The Russian sniper would bring a goal scorer’s touch and has averaged 33 goals per season throughout his career. There were rumors the Devils were targeting him. Now, they can make it a reality.

New Jersey will have to get the Blues winger to waive his No Trade Clause to make a move happen. The Devils have a coach in Sergei Brylin that can easily relate to Tarasenko and help him get accustomed to the Devils’ system. Tarasenko would make it really hard for opponents to defend a high-octane offense.

Pavel Buchnevich

The native of Cherepovets, Russia is a very familiar face to the New Jersey Devils organization due to his time spent across the Hudson River with the New York Rangers. However, with the St. Louis Blues, he is on pace for 30 goals and 76 points. Since he joined the Blues, he’s been an offensive dynamo. He uses his size and shot to help bulldoze through traffic on transition.

He’s also under contract until the end of the 2024-25 season. Buchnevich averages over 61 points per season and scores around 25 goals every campaign. He had a breakout postseason with the Blues with 11 points (10 assists) in 12 postseason games last season and plays a heavy hockey game as well as his regular season hockey.
